About The Position

The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment to ensure a safe and reliable fleet. This role involves troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of fleet road equipment including diesel tractors, trailers, thermo-kings, converter dollies, and maintenance vehicles, ensuring compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. The mechanic will also be responsible for documenting all repairs and parts used daily.

Requirements

  • 1 year of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Able to read and write legibly.
  • Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).
  • Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations as pertaining to the shop and fleet.
  • Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals.
  • Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate with co-workers and drivers.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification
  • Experience with Maximo fleet maintenance system
  • Previous mechanical and PM program experience
  • Experience using fleet maintenance software
  • Welding ability

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.)
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all fleet equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations.
  • Document and maintain current maintenance logs for all repairs and parts used daily.
