About The Position

The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment to ensure a safe and reliable fleet. This role involves troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of fleet road equipment including diesel tractors, trailers, thermo-kings, converter dollies, and maintenance vehicles, ensuring compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. The mechanic will also be responsible for documenting all repairs and parts used daily.

Requirements

1 year of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
Must furnish own personal hand tools.
Able to read and write legibly.
Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).
Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations as pertaining to the shop and fleet.
Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals.
Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills; able to communicate with co-workers and drivers.
Demonstrated teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must possess a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification
Experience with Maximo fleet maintenance system
Previous mechanical and PM program experience
Experience using fleet maintenance software
Welding ability

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.)
Perform preventative maintenance on all fleet equipment.
Ensure compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations.
Document and maintain current maintenance logs for all repairs and parts used daily.
