About The Position

Ensures all trucks, trailers and yard tractors are in working order and are compliant to federal standards. This role involves performing inspections, repairs, and diagnosis on various vehicle components including diesel engines, power trains, electrical systems, HVAC, steering, electronics, brake systems, and suspension systems. The mechanic will also perform preventive maintenance, complete repair orders, and ensure the safety and reliability of all fleet vehicles. Additionally, the role requires assisting drivers with vehicle issues, performing DOT inspections, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Broad understanding of fleet maintenance policies, FMCSA standards and industry practices.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, make decisions as needed
  • Effective communicator and team player
  • Heavy diesel truck and trailer mechanic skills
  • 2+ years of Diesel Maintenance Repair experience
  • Experience working with air brake, hydraulic and electrical systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced using trailer maintenance software preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate gaining proficiency in the inspection, repair and diagnosis of - with some assistance: diesel engines, power train to include differentials, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, wheel ends. Electrical systems including starters, alternators and lights. HVAC systems. Steering systems. Electronics to include ECM's, ECU's, sensors etc. Engine bolt on items such as turbos, fan clutches, cooling system etc. Brake systems including ABS & air disk brakes. Suspension systems (spring and air) including tire issues, and after treatment devices such as DPF and DOC
  • Perform electrical system repairs, cooling system maintenance and complete vehicle diagnosis
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on tractor and trailer equipment including routine technical repairs and completing repair orders.
  • Perform maintenance repairs as required to maximize safety and reliability on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, lift-gates, and any company-owned equipment.
  • Abide by all Company policies and safety rules and assist in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
  • Assist drivers with addressing outstanding vehicle issues.
  • Maintains repairs for Class A trucks, trailers and yard tractors.
  • Safely operates gauges, forklifts, shunt truck, torches, grinders, and various hand and power tools.
  • Performs DOT inspections and compliancy.
