Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of three (3) years of full time professional experience in the repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, and/or heavy equipment
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with an overall good driving record required
  • Must be able to obtain a Class B, CDL, with air brake endorsement within twelve (12) months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of experience in the vehicle repair industry with manufacturer or dealership experience
  • Vocational/Technical education experience in automotive, construction, and specialized equipment repair
  • Welding experience
  • ASE certification in truck or automotive repair
  • Active Class B CDL License

Responsibilities

  • Performs mechanical and service work on all City vehicles, trucks and other equipment such as: front ends; four wheel brake job; tire replacement/repair; electrical repair; tune-ups; carburetors/Fl repairs, drives train repairs; performs diesel repair and service.
  • Picks up and delivers vehicles to various vendors.
  • Works schedule as determined by Department that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and before/after a declared emergency.
  • Operates City vehicles and possesses a valid Florida Driver’s license.
  • Cross-trains to provides support in other areas of Public Services, as needed.
  • Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
