About The Position

The Fleet Mechanic I ensures trucks, trailers, and yard tractors are working properly and comply with federal standards. The role diagnoses and repairs fleet equipment, performs preventive maintenance and DOT inspections, and supports vehicle safety and reliability.

Requirements

• Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions as needed.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work as a team player.
• Heavy diesel truck and trailer mechanic skills.
• Experience working with air brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

Nice To Haves

• Prior welding and fabrication experience.
• Tire repair experience, including repair, mounting, and dismounting.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair truck and trailer components, including doors, floors, side panels, electrical systems, and air brake systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tractor and trailer equipment, including routine technical repairs and completion of repair orders.
• Perform maintenance repairs on fleet vehicles and company-owned equipment, including tractors, trailers, and liftgates, to maximize safety and reliability.
• Follow company policies and safety rules and help maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Assist drivers with outstanding vehicle issues.
• Maintain and repair Class A trucks, trailers, and yard tractors.
• Safely operate gauges, forklifts, shunt trucks, torches, grinders, and various hand and power tools.
• Perform DOT inspections and ensure compliance.
