About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Fleet Mechanic / Field Service Technician to join our maintenance team working on various types of equipment associated with tree cutting and land services. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and performing preventative maintenance and repairs on our fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. At times, the successful candidate will be required to deploy to our field operations and diagnose, repair or recover any unserviceable truck and/or equipment. This role is essential for keeping our operations running efficiently and safely.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in mechanics or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and vehicles, ideally within the tree-cutting, landscaping, or construction industries.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, gas and diesel engines, and electrical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in the field and as part of a team in the shop.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL is required.
  • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, bending, and other physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Must have own basic tools (specialty tools provided)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs and procedures.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and other relevant safety standards.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot issues
  • Heavy-Duty Breaks certification through state or vocational training
  • Welding and fabrication skills are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, preventative maintenance and inspections on company vehicles and heavy equipment, including chippers, saws, Skid Steers, bucket trucks, cranes and Support Vehicles .
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshooting to identify solutions quickly to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain records of maintenance and repairs performed on each piece of equipment.
  • Order parts and maintain inventory of essential supplies and tools.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance manager to schedule and prioritize maintenance needs.
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Respond to field service calls and perform on-site repairs as needed
  • Operate and maintain a fully equipped service truck.
  • Keep accurate service records and communicate repair needs clearly
  • Driving any/all company vehicles safely and following all governing laws.
