About The Position

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing all vehicles and Transportation related assets, including their operations, conditions, external and internal policy compliance and overall performance. Comply with Maine DOT/FTA/FMCSR requirements relating to Fleet Maintenance.

Requirements

• Two (2) years college course work or equivalent work experience
• Trained mechanic
• Good defensive driving skills
• Clean driving record
• Must not have an active record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website.

Nice To Haves

• Commercial Driver’s License, preferred but not required
• State of Maine Commercial Vehicle Inspection License
• Experience with Braun Lift/Ramp Systems or similar Lift systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage Preventative Maintenance-Schedule and track routine service, inspections, and required regulatory maintenance including all documentation both electronic and paper file.
• Coordinate Repairs-Arrange urgent and non-urgent repairs, perform minor fixes, and support diagnostic troubleshooting with vendors.
• Conduct Vehicle Inspections-Perform Annual Transit Vehicle Inspections, 90-Day Emergency Exit Inspections, and ensure vehicles are prepared for transfer or disposal.
• Oversee Seasonal & Environmental Needs-Coordinate winter snow removal assist drivers with removing snow from the vehicles.
• Ensure Regulatory Adherence-Maintain compliance with FTA, FMCSR, and State DOT regulations.
• Provide Maintenance Reporting-Deliver timely reports to management on fleet condition, maintenance activities, and operational progress.
• Participate in Required Training-Attend training sessions. Meeting and conferences with Maine Department of Transportation/FTA related to maintenance and vehicle procurement.
• Ability to perform light duty mechanical repairs.
• Proficient with vehicle diagnostics.
