About The Position

This position involves performing a variety of functions on fleet vehicles and equipment in accordance with company policy, federal, state, and local regulations, repair manuals, factory specifications, schematics, and the technician's own knowledge. The responsibilities listed are not exhaustive, and additional duties may be assigned as needed. There are three available positions: Fleet Maintenance Technician Class A, B, or C. The offered position is contingent upon the candidate's qualifications and work experience.

Requirements

  • At least 20 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license and authorization to drive a company vehicle (on or before his or her start date in the position).
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 65 pounds.
  • Ability to read, write and solve math problems.
  • Successfully complete the following tests (before his or her start date in the position): Basic Office Skills, Following Written Instructions, Spatial Reasoning, Mechanical Reasoning.
  • Ability to interpret, understand, and follow instructions.
  • Ability to obtain an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Medium/Heavy Truck Certification.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Lakeland Distribution associate.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
  • At least two or more years of medium/heavy duty truck trade school or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of ARC, MIG, and GAS welding and cutting.
  • Basic knowledge of welding techniques (aluminum and steel).
  • Mechanical and diagnostic knowledge of fleet equipment, as well as knowledge of circuits and operational sequence of components.
  • One year of medium/heavy duty truck trade school or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performing a variety of functions on a variety of fleet vehicles and equipment according to company policy; federal, state, and local regulations; repair manuals; factory specifications; schematics; and his or her own knowledge of the fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Generating and processing work on a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Supplying and maintaining hand tools to accomplish daily duties.
  • Working well with others and being a team member.
  • Showing enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work.
  • Showing commitment to Publix’s mission.
