About The Position

The position involves performing skilled mechanical repair work on a diversified fleet of trucks, automobiles, and light/heavy equipment, up-fitting emergency equipment; and performing related duties as required. This position may be deemed essential personnel for inclement weather or operational emergencies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair (Technician I).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair (Technician II).
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair (Technician III).
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record (Technician I).
  • Ability to obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)- Class B with Air Brakes endorsement within six (6) months of employment (Technician I).
  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) - Class B with Air Brakes endorsement (Technician II & III).
  • Ability to obtain at least two (2) ASE certifications in either Automotive or Medium/Heavy Truck category, with at least one (1) certification in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Brakes, within one (1) year of employment (Technician I).
  • ASE Automobile and Light Truck certifications in Brakes, Steering and Suspension, and Heating and Air Conditioning (Technician II & III).
  • Possess at least two (2) other ASE certifications in the Automobile and Light Truck or Medium-Heavy Truck category (Technician II).
  • ASE Automobile and Light Truck certifications in Brakes, Steering and Suspension, and Heating and Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and at least one (1) ASE in the Medium-Heavy Truck category (Technician III).
  • Possess at least five (5) other ASE certifications in the Automobile and Light Truck or Medium-Heavy Truck category or a brand specific certification e.g. John Deere (Technician III).
  • Ability to obtain Forklift Certification within one (1) year of employment (Technician I).
  • Forklift Certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment (Technician II & III).
  • CPR, AED and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
  • Possession of Virginia State Vehicle Inspector License (Technician II & III).
  • Computer skills including knowledge of work order systems (Technician III).

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)- Class A (Technician I).
  • Master ASE certified in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Truck (Technician I, II, & III).
  • Virginia State Vehicle Inspector License (Technician I).
  • Install/Up-fit and assembly experience (Technician I).
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish (Technician I, II, & III).
  • More than five (5) years of experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair (Technician II).
  • Experience with operating heavy equipment, including loader, backhoe, skid-steer, tractors, etc. (Technician II & III).
  • More than seven (7) years of experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair (Technician III).
