About The Position

Moffitt Services has proudly served Texas since 1947, providing fuel, lubricants, DEF, and fleet support services to customers across the state. As our fleet continues to grow, we are looking to add a Fleet Maintenance Technician I to our team. This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, inspections, and basic mechanical repairs on our fleet of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and support equipment. This role is ideal for someone who has solid mechanical experience and is looking to continue developing their skills in a professional fleet environment. The Fleet Maintenance Technician I plays a critical role in keeping our fleet safe, reliable, and operational. This position performs preventative maintenance services, inspections, and entry-to-mid-level repairs while working alongside our experienced mechanics and fleet team. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, works safely, pays attention to detail, and understands the importance of preventing breakdowns before they happen.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to perform PM services independently
  • Ability to perform basic repairs with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Ability to work in both shop and outdoor environments

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of diesel, fleet, trailer, heavy equipment, agricultural, or automotive maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of air brake systems
  • DOT inspection experience
  • CDL License
  • Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements
  • Fleetio experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled PM services on fleet vehicles and equipment
  • Change engine oil and filters
  • Replace fuel, air, hydraulic, and cabin filters
  • Lubricate chassis and driveline components
  • Check and maintain fluid levels
  • Inspect belts, hoses, batteries, lights, tires, and safety equipment
  • Complete PM inspection reports and document findings
  • Perform vehicle safety inspections
  • Assist with DOT inspections and compliance activities
  • Identify developing mechanical issues before failure occurs
  • Communicate repair recommendations to fleet management and mechanics
  • Perform basic repairs including brake shoes and brake drums, wheel seals, brake chambers, slack adjusters, air lines and fittings, mud flaps, lights and electrical components, batteries and battery cables, hoses and minor hydraulic repairs, minor trailer repairs, and other basic mechanical repairs as assigned
  • Assist mechanics with larger repair projects
  • Maintain accurate work orders and service documentation
  • Keep shop areas clean, organized, and safe
  • Support inventory and parts organization efforts
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
