About The Position

This is a field-based, travel role for an experienced, hands-on technician to join the fleet team. The technician will be on the road up to 50% of the time, traveling to fleet locations and properties to inspect, maintain, and repair trucks and trailers. The role requires comfort with computers for documenting inspections and repairs through fleet software. The ideal candidate is comfortable diagnosing and fixing vehicle issues, especially on trailers, with minimal supervision. Requirements

  • Hands-on experience repairing and maintaining trucks, trailers, or fleet vehicles (professional work, extensive personal/DIY mechanical work, or a mix), including trailer repair (brakes, electrical, structural)
  • Ability to diagnose and fix common vehicle issues without detailed guidance
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Comfortable using a computer to document inspections and repairs through fleet software (Fleetio) and GPS units (Samsara)
  • Attention to detail and pride in doing things correctly
  • Self-starter capable of working independently
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass an MVR (driving record) check
  • Ability to pass a DOT medical certification exam
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • High School Diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

  • Experience towing and maneuvering a trailer (personal or professional)
  • Experience working specifically on trucks, trailers, or other commercial fleet vehicles
  • ASE certifications or similar credentials
  • Familiarity with fleet management or telematics software (Fleetio, Samsara, or similar)
  • Enjoyment of solving problems and troubleshooting issues

Responsibilities

  • Track truck inspections and repairs using fleet software (Fleetio)
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on trucks and trailers, including trailer-specific repairs (brakes, electrical, lighting, structural)
  • Replace lights on vehicles
  • Repair minor issues on trailers
  • Check and inspect tires
  • Install and troubleshoot GPS tracking units (Samsara)
  • Ensure safety equipment is working properly
  • Test vehicle operations
  • Coordinate with the operations team to schedule maintenance
  • Drive trucks to and from repair shops when needed
  • Travel to fleet locations and properties across markets (up to 50% travel, all paid) to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs
  • Monitor and report on maintenance projects
  • Maintain the preventive maintenance program
  • Partner with fleet managers to track vehicle recalls and ensure DOT compliance
