About The Position

This position involves supervising skilled mechanical repair work on a diverse fleet of light and heavy-duty trucks, automobiles, on and off-road heavy equipment and other small equipment. The position is responsible for the distribution of work to the fleet technicians, the state safety inspection program and the county emissions program, and troubleshooting and diagnostics. This position may be deemed essential personnel for inclement weather or operational emergencies.

Requirements

  • HS/GED.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in vehicle or equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive supervisory experience.
  • Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License – Class B with Air Brakes endorsement and a safe driving record.
  • Virginia state inspection license.
  • Knowledge of computer skills.
  • ASE Automobile and Light Truck certifications in Brakes, Steering and Suspension, and Heating and Air Conditioning, Engine Performance.
  • Possess at least five (5) other ASE certifications in the Automobile and Light Truck or Medium Heavy truck category or brand specific certification.
  • Certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 10 years in vehicle or equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Master Technician.
  • Advanced degree or training in the automotive field.
  • Class A CDL with Tanker and Air Brake Endorsements.
  • Experience repairing and maintaining hybrid and electrical vehicles and equipment.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
