About The Position

Flare Construction, LLC is hiring for a Traveling Fleet Lube Technician to perform routine lubrication, fluid servicing, and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and heavy construction equipment supporting Flare Construction's Civil and Gas Division projects. This role ensures equipment readiness, longevity, and compliance with preventive maintenance schedules across shop, local field, and traveling field assignments. Depending on assignment type, the Lube Technician may operate a fuel and lube service truck on out-of-town project sites, requiring a CDL Class B with Hazmat endorsement. The Fleet Lube Technician operates with attention to safety, service quality, and accurate documentation at all times.

Requirements

  • Typically 1–2 years of experience performing preventive maintenance or basic mechanical work on vehicles or heavy equipment preferred. Entry-level candidates with mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn will be considered for shop-based positions.
  • Experience in construction, fleet maintenance, diesel, or heavy equipment environments a plus.
  • Traveling Field assignments require a valid CDL Class B with Hazmat endorsement; CDL Class A a plus. All other assignment types require a valid driver’s license; CDL a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. regularly and up to 80 lbs. for certain project tasks.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions; stand, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Pre-employment drug screen and clean driving record required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • OSHA 10 required or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • CDL Class B with Hazmat endorsement required for Traveling Field assignments; CDL Class A a plus.
  • Additional certifications required for advancement to Mechanic I.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, standing, and working in confined spaces are required.
  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 80 lbs. for certain project tasks.
  • Traveling Field assignments require full-time positioning on out-of-town project sites for the duration of each project; extended stays and temporary relocation required.
  • Work-from-home not available unless approved by executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Perform oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements on trucks, trailers, and heavy construction equipment.
  • Conduct fluid checks and top-offs including coolant, hydraulic fluid, transmission fluid, and related systems.
  • Deliver diesel fuel and fluids to equipment in the field; manage fuel inventory and track usage accurately for traveling field assignments.
  • Inspect equipment and vehicles for leaks, wear, and basic mechanical issues; communicate findings to the supervising mechanic or Shop and Service Manager promptly.
  • Assist with minor maintenance tasks including tire checks, light replacements, and battery inspections.
  • Maintain detailed service logs, inspection records, and maintenance documentation in the fleet management system.
  • Transport and manage fuel in compliance with DOT regulations and EPA spill prevention requirements (traveling field assignments).
  • Operate and maintain shop tools, lubrication equipment, and service vehicles in clean, safe working condition.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, DOT requirements, and company policies at all times.
  • Support equipment mobilization and demobilization efforts as assigned.
