About The Position

The Dedicated Account Leader role is responsible for fleet management, load planning, and customer service for assigned accounts. This position plays a critical role in driving operational success by overseeing driver performance and retention, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, and managing driver pay. In this role, you will optimize daily operations, support drivers, and deliver high-quality service to customers while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA) and company policies. You’ll have the opportunity to make an immediate impact by improving efficiency, strengthening driver engagement, and contributing to overall account performance. Successful candidates are collaborative, results-driven professionals with strong communication skills and the ability to influence and build relationships across teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and other MS Office Suite programs.
  • Strong, demonstrated leadership capabilities, includes building effective teams.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with customers, stakeholders, and team members.

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation & Logistics preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ experience as an Account Manager or Customer Service Manager preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and retain a team of drivers, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and engagement.
  • Assign and optimize driver workloads to meet service expectations and maximize efficiency.
  • Monitor and manage driver performance using key metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, idle %, utilization), providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and development.
  • Identify training needs and support continuous skill development to improve safety and operational performance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of driver activity, performance, and communications.
  • Support driver administrative needs, including payroll, and ensure accuracy of pay-related inputs.
  • Administer corrective action, up to and including termination, in alignment with company policy.
  • Ensure drivers are properly set up in operational systems and equipped with necessary assets (e.g., tractors, trailers).
  • Oversee maintenance scheduling, including preventive maintenance, shutdowns, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with customers to ensure expectations are met, monitoring appointments and projected times of arrival (PTAs), and providing verbal dispatch for time-sensitive freight.
  • Communicate load-specific requirements (e.g., Hazmat, high-value, specialized freight) to ensure driver readiness and compliance.
  • Reinforce procedures related to claims, accidents, theft, and equipment handling to minimize risk and loss.
  • Maintain awareness of driver well-being and proactively address factors that may impact safety, service, or productivity.
  • Promote and reinforce safety and compliance programs, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and company standards.
  • Develop and execute load plans that balance customer requirements, driver needs, and network efficiency while maximizing asset utilization.
  • Proactively communicate with customers and drivers to address service challenges and manage expectations.
  • Plan and route high-value loads through approved safe havens to ensure security and risk mitigation.
  • Analyze operational data and generate reports (e.g., load weight, miles, backhaul revenue) to improve equipment utilization and profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, including hours-of-service requirements, by monitoring driver availability and maintaining accurate logs of drive time and capacity.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with assigned accounts, serving as a trusted point of contact.
  • Proactively identify at-risk shipments and drive timely resolution to ensure service commitments are met.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the operational network to identify opportunities for growth, improve efficiency, and increase load volume.
  • Leverage network balance and pricing tools to conduct daily freight solicitation with existing customers and reduce capacity imbalances.
  • Negotiate truckload (TL) and intermodal rates with external carriers as needed; evaluate and select carriers, transportation modes, and routes to ensure cost-effective, high-quality service.
  • Monitor dedicated and transactional freight performance, addressing service issues, proof of delivery, billing discrepancies, and special requirements.
  • Collect and analyze delivery and trip data to produce customer-facing reports, track performance, and present key performance indicators (KPIs) during business reviews.
  • This position may supervise non-driving associates
