At Harris County Universal Services Fleet Services, you get something that can be hard to find in the automotive industry: stability. You’re paid for the time you work—not the hours someone else decides a repair should take. No fighting over tickets. No commission roller coaster. No chasing flag hours. No wondering what next week’s paycheck will look like. Instead, bring your automotive skills to a career where you can focus on what you do best: diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicles that keep Harris County moving. And the benefits go beyond your paycheck. Harris County offers paid time off, paid holidays, sick leave, comprehensive benefits, retirement, training, and opportunities to grow your career. Same skills. More stability. A career built for the long haul. Leave flat rate behind. Bring your skills to Harris County. Under general supervision, the Lead Technician is responsible for performing required vehicle maintenance and thorough inspections of all vehicle systems, diagnosing, and troubleshooting issues, and performing high-quality and efficient repairs to county-owned vehicles and equipment, as assigned in accordance with Harris County Fleet Services and OEM standards. In addition to these duties, the Lead Technician will oversee a team of technicians, providing guidance and support, particularly on problematic vehicles and rechecks. They will assist with quality assurance, training, and may serve as a backup coordinator to help manage productivity and workflow.
