About The Position

As the Fleet Field Technician, you will ultimately be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on fleet vehicles and construction equipment in the field. You will coordinate field service activities, respond to equipment breakdowns, and deliver timely maintenance solutions that minimize downtime. As the Fleet Field Technician, your customers are Congruex field construction teams and fleet operations, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company’s success through equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and safe maintenance practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record required; CDL preferred.
  • Must be qualified to perform DOT inspections.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in medium/heavy-duty truck repair, construction equipment repair, utility equipment repair, or a related mechanical field.
  • Experience working with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and heavy equipment diagnostics.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics, repair manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills using MIG, ARC, and Oxy-Acetylene equipment.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to provide personal hand tools and work boots and participate in overtime and on-call rotations as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or trade school certification in automotive or diesel repair.
  • ASE certifications, EPA 609 Air Conditioning certification, welding certifications, or brake certifications for air systems.
  • Experience with Ford Power Stroke, GM Duramax diesel engines, and John Deere equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on construction equipment, utility trucks, trailers, and fleet vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air conditioning systems, brake systems, and other mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot wiring systems for utility booms, chassis, and engine systems using wiring schematics and specialized diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, tire replacement, hydraulic repairs, and other field maintenance activities while responding to emergency equipment breakdowns.
  • Complete maintenance documentation accurately and travel between facilities and project sites to support field operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, DOT requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.
