About The Position

Indie Campers is a leading campervan marketplace dedicated to making road trips accessible to everyone. With a strong digital presence and customer focus, they offer a wide range of road trip possibilities, including short-term RV rentals, long-term campervan subscriptions, and vehicle sales. The company is growing and seeking talented individuals to join their mission. As a Fleet Expert, you will serve as a crucial technical liaison between fleet, mechanics, operations, customer service, and sales. Your role will involve providing expert guidance on RV and vehicle mechanical, body, and electrical issues, centralizing technical knowledge, and supporting consistent decision-making. This includes developing and maintaining damage trees, RV manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for damage identification and assessment, as well as guidelines for repair approvals. You will also assist Customer Service teams with on-road vehicle troubleshooting and provide coaching on handling technical issues. A strong financial understanding is important for assessing repair costs and vehicle value to inform business decisions regarding fleet investment and repairs. You may also advise on vehicle sales based on their condition and analysis. Reporting to regional leadership, you will be instrumental in enhancing the technical knowledge, consistency, and efficiency of fleet operations. Your expertise will directly impact vehicle availability, operational efficiency, customer experience, and fleet costs. You will collaborate closely with various teams and stakeholders to achieve these goals.

Requirements

  • Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience in RV, campervan, dealership, fleet, or other vehicle-related businesses.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical, electrical, and body systems is essential.
  • Ideally combined with experience assessing vehicle condition, managing repairs, and working with repair networks or workshops.
  • Action-Oriented: You take initiative to address operational needs, solve problems, and ensure the smooth flow of work.
  • Organized & Analytical: Strong ability to analyze data, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Attention to Detail: You follow detailed procedures closely, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks.
  • Team Player: Collaborative spirit with the willingness to work closely with team members and local teams to contribute to shared goals.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical bridge across fleet, mechanics, operations, customer service, and sales, providing expert guidance on RV and vehicle-related issues.
  • Assess and troubleshoot mechanical, body, and electrical issues across the fleet, supporting teams in identifying the appropriate actions and repair solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and centralize damage trees, RV manuals, and SOPs for damage identification, vehicle assessment, and repair approvals, ensuring consistent technical decision-making across the business.
  • Support Customer Service teams with on-road vehicle troubleshooting, providing guidance on vehicle-related incidents and coaching teams on how to effectively handle technical issues.
  • Review and assess repair needs, repair spend, and vehicle costs, providing technical and financial insight to support cost-effective fleet decisions.
  • Advise on repair and replacement decisions, balancing vehicle condition, repair costs, operational impact, and overall fleet value.
  • Support vehicle sales decisions by assessing vehicle condition and sellability, providing the analysis and technical expertise needed to determine whether a vehicle is ready for sale.
  • Partner with regional and local teams to improve fleet processes, standardize technical knowledge, and increase consistency in vehicle assessments and repair decisions.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external technical partners to resolve complex vehicle issues and continuously improve the way fleet-related problems are managed across the region.
