About The Position

Bauman Landscape and Construction is looking for an experienced Fleet & Equipment Manager to take ownership of the trucks, vehicles, and heavy equipment that keep our construction operations moving. This is a hands-on management role focused on fleet readiness, preventative maintenance, repairs, compliance, documentation, vendor coordination, and cost control. Bauman is a family-owned general engineering contractor specializing in grading, concrete, underground utilities, demolition, and site development throughout Northern California. Our field teams rely on dependable equipment every day, and this position plays a key role in making sure they have it.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in fleet management, equipment management, or a similar role
  • Experience managing commercial trucks, construction vehicles, heavy equipment, or a combination of all three
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance and equipment repair requirements
  • Familiarity with California commercial fleet regulations, including BIT and CARB compliance
  • Ability to coordinate multiple vehicles, pieces of equipment, vendors, and maintenance priorities
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills
  • Comfortable monitoring costs, budgets, fuel usage, repairs, and other operating expenses
  • Experience with Samsara, VisionLink, or comparable fleet management software
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working closely with field operations, drivers, mechanics, and company leadership
  • Valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • CDL is a plus, but not required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage the company fleet of trucks, construction vehicles, and heavy equipment
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and scheduled servicing
  • Keep equipment available, reliable, and ready to support field operations
  • Maintain accurate maintenance histories, inspection records, service documentation, and fleet files
  • Support compliance with California BIT inspections, CARB requirements, Clean Truck Check, and other applicable fleet regulations
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance with mechanics, dealerships, vendors, and outside service providers
  • Work closely with operations and dispatch to coordinate equipment availability and scheduling
  • Monitor fuel consumption, repair costs, maintenance expenses, and other fleet-related spending
  • Help manage fleet budgets and identify opportunities to reduce operating costs
  • Track downtime and address recurring equipment or maintenance issues
  • Maintain and improve fleet safety procedures and documentation
  • Use fleet management systems to track vehicles, equipment, maintenance, inspections, and utilization
  • Recommend process improvements that increase equipment reliability and fleet efficiency
