About The Position

AlphaGov is engaging an experienced Fleet Electrification Planner for current municipal and county zero-emission fleet transition work. The planner will lead fleet assessments, phased transition plans, and facility-readiness reviews to help agencies transition light-duty and medium-duty fleets to electric and other zero-emission vehicles. Scope, schedule, and fee are confirmed with the collaborator before an engagement begins.

AlphaGov delivers public-sector consulting to cities, counties, school systems, special districts, utilities, and related agencies. This is a project-based collaboration that is remote-first with occasional client travel. With the collaborator’s authorization, AlphaGov may identify them as an expert collaborator or key personnel on proposals that align with their expertise.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience planning public-sector or large-fleet electrification or zero-emission transitions.
• Working knowledge of EV duty-cycle analysis, depot charging concepts, and phased replacement planning.
• Ability to write clear transition plans and briefings for agency operations and fleet leaders.
• Comfort working as a 1099 project-based consultant, remote-first with occasional client travel.

Nice To Haves

• Municipal, county, transit, school-bus, or utility fleet electrification experience.
• Familiarity with NEVI, CFI, VW mitigation, or state clean-fleet incentive programs.
• Experience with fleet telematics, GIS, or lifecycle cost models used in transition studies.

Responsibilities

• Assess agency fleets by vehicle class, duty cycle, mileage, dwell time, and replacement timing.
• Model energy demand, charger counts, and depot or yard charging layouts for phased transitions.
• Evaluate facility electrical capacity, parking, and operational impacts of electrification.
• Develop multi-year transition roadmaps addressing capital, operating, and staffing implications.
• Compare total cost of ownership scenarios and recommend vehicle and charger procurement sequences.
• Advise agencies on funding pathways, including NEVI, CFI, VW, IRA, and state clean-fleet programs.
• Contribute qualifications and past-performance narratives to AlphaGov proposals when authorized to be named.
