About The Position

The Fleet Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of company equipment, materials, and products to/from customers, vendors, job sites, and company facilities. This position operates commercial motor vehicles requiring a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and ensures compliance with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and company safety requirements. The Fleet Driver serves as a key representative of the organization and is expected to maintain a professional appearance, positive customer interactions, and a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
  • Current Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT Physical).
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Ability to satisfy all FMCSA qualification requirements.
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Understanding of vehicle inspection procedures and cargo securement requirements.
  • Ability to read maps, route instructions, shipping documents, and work orders.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Basic smartphone, GPS, and electronic logging device (ELD) proficiency.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to climb, stoop, bend, kneel, and secure loads.
  • Ability to sit and operate a commercial vehicle for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years of Class A CDL driving experience preferred.
  • Experience hauling industrial, oilfield, heavy equipment, or oversized loads preferred.
  • Experience operating flatbed and gooseneck trailers preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Class A commercial vehicles, including flatbeds, goosenecks, and other company equipment.
  • Transport sucker rods, oilfield equipment, materials, and supplies safely and efficiently.
  • Load, secure, transport, and unload cargo in accordance with DOT regulations and company procedures.
  • Verify load accuracy, shipping documentation, and delivery instructions before departure.
  • Plan and follow assigned routes while adapting to traffic, weather, and road conditions.
  • Obtain signatures and delivery confirmations as required.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Maintain accurate Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs), fuel logs, mileage records, and required documentation.
  • Comply with FMCSA regulations, Hours-of-Service requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Participate in random drug and alcohol testing programs as required by DOT regulations.
  • Report accidents, vehicle damage, safety concerns, or regulatory violations immediately.
  • Maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Perform routine inspections of trucks, trailers, tie-downs, chains, straps, and related equipment.
  • Report maintenance needs and repair requirements promptly.
  • Ensure vehicles remain clean, organized, and professional in appearance.
  • Assist in coordinating vehicle maintenance schedules and inspections.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and internal personnel.
  • Provide delivery status updates and report delays or issues affecting delivery schedules.
  • Represent the company positively at customer locations and job sites.
  • Assist warehouse, manufacturing, or yard personnel with loading and unloading activities as needed.
  • Support inventory transfers between facilities.
  • Participate in company training, safety meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
