About The Position

This position is responsible for performing routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles. It also involves minor plumbing and carpentry repair work, and driving Salvation Army large vehicles to transport equipment and supplies, especially in emergency situations. The role requires maintaining a constant state of readiness to deploy in support of Emergency Disaster Services throughout the Florida Division. The technician will perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on Salvation Army vehicles and equipment, deliver and pick up materials and supply items, and maintain all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Divisional EDS Department. Additionally, the position involves monitoring inventory levels of critical inventory and supervising volunteers and community service workers in the EDS warehouse.

Requirements

High School diploma or G.E.D.
Two years’ experience driving large vehicles
At least two years’ experience in warehouse environment with shipping, receiving, and inventory recording.
Valid State Driver's License
Ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (50 lbs or more) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently.
Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, possible snow, heat or other discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

CDL Class A endorsement (valid and current), preferred but not required
Hazardous Materials and Doubles Endorsement, preferred but not required (must be current or earned within the first 60 days on the job).

Responsibilities

Performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles.
Performs minor plumbing and carpentry repair work.
Drives Salvation Army large vehicles and transports equipment and supplies in emergency situations.
Maintains a constant state of readiness to deploy in support of Emergency Disaster Services throughout the Florida Division.
Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs of Salvation Army vehicles and equipment.
Drives vehicle in order to deliver and pick up materials and supply items.
Delivers product at assigned destinations according to schedule; unloads truck receiving delivery of product.
Maintains all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to Divisional EDS Department.
Monitors inventory levels of critical inventory.
Inventories items received, shipped, and stored.
Supervises volunteers and community service workers at EDS warehouse as they perform routine janitorial support as well as work projects initiated by EDS Logistics Coordinator.
