Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, Food Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 0 to 2 years of laboratory, food industry, chemical industry, or related technical experience.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, SAP, and other applicable business systems.
  • Practical mathematical skills, including calculations and preparation of ingredient dilutions and formulations.
  • Ability to evaluate and distinguish sensory characteristics of flavors and food applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Ability to work independently while managing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accurate documentation practices.
  • Successful completion of IFF's internal sensory assessment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in flavor, food ingredient, beverage, dairy, sweet goods, or savory product development environments.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and processes used in flavor creation and product evaluation.
  • Additional language capabilities beyond English.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, compound, analyze, and accurately record flavor formulations within company systems.
  • Conduct flavor formulation activities, including raw material handling, weighing, measuring physical properties, and documentation.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory, flavor stocks, and raw material organization.
  • Follow all laboratory safety requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and site procedures.
  • Partner with Research & Development (R&D) and cross-functional teams to support projects and business objectives.
  • Perform laboratory processes required for intermediates and finished flavors, including liquid compounding, extractions, and rotary evaporation techniques.
  • Assist with sensory evaluations, tasting sessions, and product assessments.
  • Maintain detailed records, organized notes, and accurate experimental documentation.
  • Support a clean, efficient, and compliant laboratory environment.
