About The Position

This position is responsible for supporting the Flavor Creation team. This role will also support R&D functions including Applications and Samples Teams.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma GED Required; Associates degree in Applied Science, BS preferred.
  • 0-3 years experience.
  • Perform basic mathematics (i.e. multiply, divide, add, percentages, etc.) and the ability to convert between varying units of measure.
  • Ability to work overtime and lift to 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Ability to work accurately, quickly and with good laboratory practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and perform under pressure while remaining flexible.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with good communication skills to report any safety or quality issue to the Lead or Manager.
  • Ability to use and read scales, accurate tare and recognize unit of measure requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support multiple projects within a given day.
  • A positive attitude, a team player, engaging and able to communicate thoughts and ideas effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately compounds experimental formulas per the direction of flavorists.
  • Follow detailed instructions to monitor equipment, control temperatures and consistency of the mixes.
  • Conducts laboratory experiments under the direction of flavor chemists.
  • Ensure consistency in various prepared compositions and report any inconsistencies or formulation issues to the flavorists.
  • Transfer materials and set up equipment, according to SOP.
  • Obtains raw materials from the production environment and properly record item with description and lot number.
  • Coordination with procurement may also be required.
  • Consistently perform assigned duties in a safe manner and in accordance with the company’s safety policies.
  • Fill, label, and pack samples of flavors to be sent to Synergy customers.
  • Prepare shipping paperwork for hazardous and non-hazardous samples shipped via UPS/Fed-ex.
  • Maintain Pilot Plant equipment in clean, operating condition.
  • Maintain organization of the sample library.
  • Assure adequate inventory of packaging and shipping supplies.
  • Responsible for proper care, handling, maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment and laboratory workspace.
  • Maintains stocks of laboratory glassware and supplies.
  • Prepares tasting solutions for evaluation.
  • Participates in taste panels.
  • Follows safety, quality and GMP policies of the company and government.
  • Other general laboratory and project-related responsibilities as required.
