Requirements

  • 2-4 year degree in mechanical, manufacturing engineering or 4+ years relevant and proven manufacturing technician/engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in tooling engineering (preferably in a production environment)
  • Skilled in interpretation of product and manufacturing drawings and specifications
  • Expert Knowledge in Siemens NX CAD/Drafting and product data management systems. NX, Siemens Teamcenter
  • Expert Knowledge of GD&T
  • Expert Knowledge in parametric model definition tools of NX and assembly modeling with inter-part linking
  • Knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter
  • Knowledge in identifying, analyzing, and correcting fixture and gage issues.
  • Working knowledge of MS office (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Good knowledge of upstream and downstream processes used turbine component manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, development, and qualification of fixtures and gages for turbine blades, vanes and other components
  • Design and develop tooling that improves capability and throughput of the production process.
  • Design and development of tooling for machining processes
  • Design and development of custom gages for inspection processes
  • Lead the fixture and gage manufacture; collaborating with suppliers (internal and external), management, purchasing, and logistics to obtain quotations and realize the repair of fixtures and gages
  • Develop work instructions, procedures, key cards, and related engineering documentation for fixture and gage design and build.
  • Develop work instructions, procedures, key cards, and related manufacturing documentation for fixture and gage use.
  • Apply the standardized approached to tool and fixture designs in a Siemens NX and Teamcenter environment.
  • Collaborate with WSC manufacturing engineer(s) and production to ensure tooling is designed to meet their performance expectations
  • Collaborate with WSC production and quality to ensure tooling is provisioned and repaired to meet production needs
  • Project leadership of tooling engineering projects (scheduling, experimentation, reporting, documentation) with full responsibility for due dates, results and costs associated with your field of activities
  • Lead tooling projects through all phases, conception, R&D, qualification, production implementation, and continued production support
  • Lead continuous process improvements (analysis, solution finding, implementation) around tool design and use processes and methods
  • Work with production personnel to implement, troubleshoot, and improve fixtures and gages and their associated processes
  • Collaborate with management, product engineering, peer engineers, and operators to realize high quality, stable processes. Provide data and documentation for product process qualifications (PPQ), work instructions and manufacturing quality control plans.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and quality to identify effective critical to quality inspection requirements to support effective inspections both manual and/or CMM
  • Development of inspection plans for validating fixtures including CTQ drawings
  • Collaborate with Quality to repair fixtures and gages that are identified as non-conforming during validation
  • Analyze inspection data for reported out of tolerance or worn conditions
  • Develop and execute necessary repair actions with Siemens tool room and/or external suppliers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure repairs completed and accepted by stakeholders, production, engineering, and quality
  • Lead the fixture and gage repair logistics; collaborating with suppliers (internal and external), management, purchasing, and logistics to obtain quotations and realize the repair of fixtures and gages
