Our team in Industrial Group is looking for a Tool & Fixture Design Engineer to join them. You will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, NY. The Tool & Fixture Design Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role plays a key part in designing and implementing tooling and fixtures, programming and supporting CAM systems, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across production operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline, equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Three or more years’ experience in tool design or manufacturing engineer role
  • Hands-on experience with tooling, fixturing, and CNC machining environments
  • Experience creating detailed drawings for tooling and fixturing

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate production tooling, jigs, and fixtures to support machining and assembly processes
  • Create detailed drawings and CAD models for tooling and fixturing using standard engineering design software
  • Collaborate with machining, quality, and production teams to ensure tooling meets process capability and repeatability requirements
  • Oversee fabrication, testing, and continuous improvement of tooling and fixtures
  • Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for new and existing products
  • Analyze production workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, cost reduction, and quality enhancement
  • Support production troubleshooting and resolve manufacturing issues in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability (DFM)
  • Lead process planning, including routing creation, equipment selection, and capacity planning
  • Support prototype builds, pilot runs, and production launches
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality systems (e.g., ISO), and regulatory requirements
  • Support PFMEA, control plans, and process validation activities
  • Work closely with production, quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams to ensure manufacturing readiness and performance
  • Provide technical support and training to operators and technicians
