About The Position

Independence Tooling is seeking a Fixture Builder to build and assemble fixtures, jigs, gauges, and tooling using engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications. The role involves interpreting blueprints, GD&T requirements, and technical documentation; precision fitting and aligning components; and operating tools and machining equipment to fabricate, modify, and repair fixtures. The Fixture Builder also tests and verifies completed fixtures, troubleshoots issues to reduce production downtime, and works within the responsibilities of the company’s quality system.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of fixture or tool-building experience.
• Knowledge of materials, machining, assembly methods, and mathematics.
• Familiarity with automotive and aerospace tooling, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Prior assembly experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble fixtures, jigs, gauges, and tooling according to engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
• Interpret blueprints, GD&T requirements, and technical documentation to ensure accurate fixture construction and assembly.
• Fit, align, and adjust fixture components to meet required tolerances and quality standards.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and machining equipment to fabricate, modify, and repair fixture components.
• Test and verify completed fixtures for proper operation and repeatability.
• Troubleshoot fixture-related issues to minimize production downtime and maintain manufacturing efficiency.
• Work within the confines and responsibilities of the quality system.
