About The Position

Hill Country Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (HCTC) is seeking a full-time Fixed Wireless Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support the broadband network serving communities throughout the Texas Hill Country. This is a hands-on field position for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working with modern wireless broadband technology, and seeing the direct impact of their work. As part of HCTC's Field Operations team, you will work with fixed wireless radio systems, customer premises equipment, networking equipment, fiber facilities, and other telecommunications infrastructure that keeps our customers connected. If you have experience with fixed wireless, RF systems, broadband installation and repair, or telecommunications, we'd like to hear from you.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of RF technical education or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Two years of experience installing and maintaining RF, fixed wireless, broadband, or telecommunications equipment
  • Working knowledge of RF fundamentals, basic electricity, Ethernet cabling, fiber optics, telecommunications, and IP networking
  • Understanding of switching and routing concepts
  • Ability to use telecommunications test equipment, hand tools, and locating equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in the field
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, work orders, staking sheets, equipment documentation, and technical instructions
  • Professional communication and customer service skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to remain insurable under HCTC's automobile insurance requirements

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair point-to-multipoint (PTMP) and point-to-point (PTP) fixed wireless radio systems
  • Install and maintain customer-premises radio equipment, cabling, power, grounding, and network connections
  • Perform site surveys and signal testing to determine service availability and appropriate installation solutions
  • Align, test, and optimize wireless links for signal quality, reliability, and network performance
  • Diagnose RF interference, signal degradation, connectivity issues, and equipment failures
  • Install and troubleshoot customer LAN and Wi-Fi networks, routers, switches, Network Interface Devices (NIDs), Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), and other customer premises equipment (CPE)
  • Troubleshoot wireless, fiber, copper, Ethernet, and customer-premises connectivity issues
  • Perform RF/Ethernet cable testing and fiber testing and splicing as required
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on fixed wireless sites and supporting telecommunications infrastructure
  • Install and maintain equipment on towers, poles, and other elevated structures and operate bucket trucks and other company equipment as required
  • Complete service orders, trouble tickets, test results, equipment records, and other required field documentation accurately and on time
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding service issues, installation requirements, and resolutions
  • Assist with fiber, copper, and other Outside Plant (OSP) installation and maintenance activities as operational needs require
  • Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation and respond to network or service emergencies as needed
  • Follow HCTC safety procedures and applicable telecommunications, electrical, and construction standards
