Fixed Income Strategy and Analytics Analyst
About The Position
Piper Sandler is seeking a Fixed Income Analyst for their Financial Strategies group (PSFS) in New York, NY. The PSFS group provides advice and guidance for depositories, utilizing expertise in macroeconomics, strategy, and fixed income securities, along with comprehensive modeling capabilities. They deliver portfolio analysis, advisory services, market research, and customized cash flow analysis to banks and credit unions. This analyst position offers an opportunity to join a growing team, assist in developing client and market strategies, and manage daily analytics. The role will provide an understanding of the group's strategies and develop advanced knowledge of fixed income markets and balance sheets.
Requirements
- 0-2 years of experience in financial services; analytic background strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, math, financial engineering, or related field
- Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail
- Self-starter with strong organizational and workflow management skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated interest in fixed income markets and products, financial markets, and economics
- FINRA Series 7, 63 & SIE licenses (or willingness to obtain within 120 days)
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience with interest rate derivatives or derivatives accounting is a plus
- Strong Excel modelling skills a plus
Responsibilities
- Support senior strategists, coordinate with sales force and liaise with trading desk to develop professional reports and strategies for client presentation
- Model peer analysis for financial institutions
- Maintain client portfolios and strategies by updating, pricing, and generating reports and trade ideas in a timely manner
- Demonstrate understanding of economic, market and sector conditions, as well as bond accounting, regulatory, and overall balance sheet issues
