About The Position

The Fixed Asset and Inventory Specialist is a non-sworn position located in the Logistics Section within the Administration and Support Services Division of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, located in Raleigh, NC (Wake County). This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the agency's fixed asset inventory system in compliance with state and accounting and property management regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from appropriately accredited institution AND one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation which includes: credit and arrest checks; interviews with associates, personal and business references; verification interviews of employers; verification of education achievement; urinalysis drug screening; and submission of fingerprints.
  • Must provide proof of employment eligibility (immigration and naturalization) on the first day of employment.
  • Must electronically submit fingerprints to the NC State Bureau of Investigation for a state and national criminal history record check and enrollment in the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Next Generation Identification (NGI) System and Criminal Justice Record of Arrest and Prosecution Background (Rap Back) Service.

  • Knowledge of information systems or database management used for asset tracking (e.g., Excel, Access, or enterprise systems like NCFS Fixed Assets Module).

Responsibilities

  • Establishing standardized processes for tracking, tagging, and reporting on all agency-owned property and equipment.
  • Designing and maintaining a fixed asset database, coordinating physical inventories, reconciling records with accounting data, and ensure accuracy and accountability of assets across the agency.
  • Developing and implementing inventory tracking systems and associated procedures.
  • Accurately recording, classifying, and reconciling asset data.
  • Interpreting and applying state property management policies and fiscal regulations.
  • Performing detailed analyses to identify discrepancies or irregularities in asset records.
  • Planning and conducting physical inventories independently and systematically.
  • Training and assisting staff in following asset control policies.
  • Maintaining organized documentation and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
  • Coordinating surplus of agency-owned property and equipment.
  • Assisting with other functions within the SBI Logistics section including surplus, equipment, vehicles, and mail, as assigned by the Special Agent in Charge (SAC).
