About The Position

This role supports the Aspire program, a five-week initiative. The accompanist will work with a rhythm section and perform a variety of musical styles including pop, rock, jazz, Latin, country, R&B, and funk. The program culminates in a short concert with the ensemble. This is a student employment opportunity within the Berklee community, offering part-time work (10-15 hours per week) to help with living expenses and provide professional and educational growth.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program (exception: summer employment without enrollment if pre-registered for fall).
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA (first-semester students are exempt until completion of their first semester).
  • Federal Work Study students may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • Ability to sight-read lead sheets and rhythm section charts that have time slashes, chord progressions and additional rhythmic figures.
  • Reliable, patient, cooperative, and open to taking direction or critique.

  • Perform with a rhythm section covering a wide variety of musical styles.
  • Participate in a short concert with the ensemble at the end of the program.
  • Be reliable, patient, and cooperative.
  • Be open to taking direction or critique from instructors and students.
  • Treat prospective undergraduate students as members of the community.
