About The Position

Use hand-welding equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products. This role involves various welding tasks, laying out and aligning parts, examining workpieces, operating hand and power tools, selecting and installing torches, igniting torches, connecting and turning regulator valves, reporting job data, and maintaining safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Welding Certification.
  • 2-year degree in manufacturing or related field.
  • 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to deal with all levels of employees.
  • Must be able to deal with and handle confidential information.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Weld separately or in combination, using materials such as: aluminum, stainless steel, and other alloys (depending on certification).
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to welding, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straight edges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  • Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals.
  • Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.
  • Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained.
  • Accurately record job and hour data on timesheet daily.
  • Accurately record product and processing data on specified forms.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Utilize all required safety equipment.
  • Utilize safe work habits.
  • Observe and comply with all safety rules.
