About The Position

Under ongoing supervision, measures, aligns cuts, fits elbows and welds, cleans and grinds fabricated products. May assist in coordinating activities of welders and fabricators for special welding techniques and/or procedures.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
SMAW weld qualified
FCAW weld qualified

Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
Depth perception (three dimensional vision ability to judge distance and spatial relationships)
Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eye is fixed on a given point)
Ability to adjust visual focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.

Responsibilities

Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together according plans and specifications
Performs cleaning and grinding as required.
Grinds welds and end finish.
Cuts products with torch and other tools.
Tacks product according to plans and specifications
Completes proper documentation.
Moves pipe with overhead crane.

Assists in the departmental housekeeping and safety efforts and works collaboratively with other members of the department and production counterparts to ensure production workflow
