Responsibilities

  • Assists Fitters and Welders in fitting and welding tasks such as positioning and aligning structural metal components in the fabrication of steel structures.
  • Operate punches, grinders, drills, saws, oxy-fuel torches, and other basic equipment and hand tools
  • Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary
  • May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation
  • May perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of journeyman's tools and equipment
  • Perform other routine duties as directed by experienced craft person
  • Manually move, lift, and transfer material and safely operate overhead cranes
  • Travel as required
  • Other duties which may be assigned as needed
