About The Position

Supports structural steel fabrication operations by assisting fitters, welders, machine operators, material handlers, and other production personnel in the fabrication of structural steel components and assemblies. Performs a variety of shop support activities including material staging, grinding, material handling, housekeeping, and assisting with fabrication and assembly activities while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous manufacturing, fabrication, construction, warehouse, or industrial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate punches, grinders, drills, saws, oxy-fuel torches, and other basic equipment, hand tools, and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintain work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and assemblies during fabrication activities.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and serviceable condition.
• Assist fitters, welders, machine operators, material handlers, and other production personnel as required to support fabrication operations.
• Gather, stage, stack, identify, organize, move, lift, and transfer structural steel material throughout the fabrication facility and safely operate overhead cranes when properly trained and authorized.
• Assist with measuring, marking, and layout activities as directed.
• Follow all company safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures.
• Perform general housekeeping and shop support activities throughout the fabrication facility.
• Other duties which may be assigned as needed.
