About The Position

Advantage Steel & Construction is looking for an experienced Fitter/Fabricator to join our team in Saxonburg, PA. If you have structural steel fabrication experience, can read shop drawings, and take pride in quality craftsmanship, we want to hear from you. Our team fabricates steel components used in bridges, buildings, foundation systems, locks and dams, and other specialized construction projects. Requirements

  • 2+ years of structural steel fabrication experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols
  • Strong understanding of structural steel fitting and fabrication processes
  • Experience with welding processes such as SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW preferred
  • Working knowledge of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
  • Familiarity with AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel preferred
  • Experience with AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code is a plus
  • Ability to successfully complete welder qualification testing in multiple positions
  • Experience operating fabrication equipment such as: Press brakes, Shears, Ironworkers, Drill presses and magnetic drills, Oxyfuel and plasma cutting equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Safety-minded approach to all work
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical or trade school training is a plus
  • Experience working in an AISC, AWS, ASME, or API-certified fabrication environment is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with welding processes such as SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW preferred
  • Familiarity with AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel preferred
  • Experience with AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code is a plus
  • Technical or trade school training is a plus
  • Experience working in an AISC, AWS, ASME, or API-certified fabrication environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, fit, and fabricate structural steel components according to drawings, specifications, and established quality standards.
  • Fit and fabricate structural steel components from shop drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols.
  • Perform layout, measuring, cutting, fitting, and welding.
  • Follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and established quality requirements.
  • Operate fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect work for accuracy, quality, and proper fit-up.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Work as part of a team to meet production and project schedules.
