Fitness & Wellness Director
About The Position
The YMCA of Broome County is seeking an experienced Fitness & Wellness Director to lead fitness and wellness operations across our Johnson City and Binghamton, NY locations. This full-time leadership position oversees our fitness centers, group exercise programming, wellness staff and community health initiatives. We are looking for a strong leader who is passionate about fitness, wellness programming and building high-quality programs that improve the health and well-being of our community. If you have experience in fitness management, wellness programming, group exercise, recreation, kinesiology or health promotion, this is an opportunity to combine your professional experience with meaningful community impact.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fitness, wellness, recreation or health program development and management.
- Strong leadership, organizational and program-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals.
- Knowledge of current health, fitness and wellness trends, policies and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Health and Wellness, Exercise Science or a related field preferred.
Responsibilities
- Oversee fitness and wellness operations and programming across both YMCA branches.
- Recruit, supervise, support and develop the wellness team.
- Coordinate and strengthen group exercise programming.
- Develop and implement wellness programs that support the physical health of YMCA members.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Provide training and support to members, staff and volunteers involved in wellness activities.
- Organize programs and events focused on health, fitness and wellness promotion.
- Stay current with fitness and wellness industry trends, policies and best practices.
- Work collaboratively with YMCA staff, volunteers and community partners to support wellness initiatives.
