About The Position

At The Stratford, we are a community recognized as a Great Place to Work, driven by our philosophy of “People First, Always.” We are seeking a Fitness Specialist to instruct classes, promote safety and health education, and support the design and implementation of an all-inclusive wellness program tailored for the geriatric community. This role is crucial in addressing the physical fitness and health components relevant to our residents.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Group Exercise Certification required
  • Certification in CPR required

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications from ACSM, ACE, AEA, or AFAA desired

Responsibilities

  • Implements wellness programming and delivers wellness classes according to the specific needs and programs of the campus.
  • Maintains HIPAA standards and ensures the confidentiality of resident and employee medical or healthcare information.
  • Implements standards of exercise, wellness, and senior health on campus, operating wellness components in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Designs and leads fitness-based classes specific to the campus population.
  • Instructs classes or routines based on resident's determined level, health, and mobility to improve or maintain physical/mental health.
  • Ensures the safety and proper progression of residents participating in all instructed classes.
  • Maintains daily attendance records for all classes and resident progression, reporting this data to the Wellness Coordinator.
  • Coordinates wellness and exercise opportunities with community agencies, physicians, families, residents, consultants, and other campus departments as needed.
  • Educates fitness participants on self-protection from infectious diseases and promotes other safety precautions.
  • Communicates any changes in resident conditions or abnormal behavior to the Wellness Coordinator, Administrator, other staff, or healthcare professionals.
  • Assists residents in transferring or ambulating as necessary to participate in wellness classes.
  • Participates in and attends all scheduled in-service training and education programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
