About The Position

FOX Rehabilitation is hiring a Fitness Specialist to lead group exercise and personal training for older adults at a Senior Living Community in Altoona, Iowa. The role is suited to a personal trainer, exercise science graduate, or certified fitness professional interested in healthy aging, fall prevention, and functional fitness for seniors. This part-time position is approximately five hours per week, with an opportunity to grow the caseload and hours. The Fitness Specialist serves as the primary wellness professional embedded in a Senior Living Community, delivering evidence-based fitness programming through group classes, one-on-one personal training, and partner training sessions. FOX describes its practice as clinician-operated and focused on meaningful relationships, evidence-based care, and abolishing ageism. The role may include telehealth or virtual care components and offers a collaborative, community-based environment focused on independence, wellness, and longevity. The position has medium physical demands. Duties may involve patient transfers and bed mobility, repositioning bed-bound patients, extended standing and walking, and other physical activities described below.
