Requirements

  • Provide high-quality customer service to all residents, families, responsible persons, and visitors of residents in the community.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with active listening capabilities.
  • Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be capable of daily physical activity and strain, including but not limited to sitting, walking, climbing stairs/stepladders, pushing wheelchairs, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, or crouching.
  • Must be able to balance, lift, and perform medium to maximum transfer assists with residents.
  • Ability to foster a positive, productive culture and to excite and encourage residents to be fit and healthy, and to participate in all activities they enjoy.
  • Build confidence, relationships and unity in our community through physical activity.
  • Possess a sincere passion for working with our senior population
  • Creative, energetic, enthusiastic, patient, flexible, encouraging, motivating and team-oriented.
  • Displays patience, tact, enthusiasm and a cheerful disposition
  • Create a positive atmosphere with an engaging variety of activities
  • Promote Maplewood in a positive manner and effectively communicate the organizations values to residents, visitors, co-workers and the community.
  • Must have one or more of the following: Yoga Certification, Aquatic Certification, Water Safety Certification, and/or Active Older Adult Certification.
  • First Aid, AED, and CPR certification required.
  • Basic typing skills and computer knowledge; familiarity with MS word, excel and outlook.
  • Criminal background check required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with and a passion for working with seniors is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach classes safely and effectively.
  • Track attendance of all classes to monitor popularity.
  • Schedule personal training sessions with individual residents to address their needs.
  • Demonstrate the correct way to use all fitness equipment to all residents.
  • Maintain fitness equipment daily.
  • Deliver presentations and maintain discussions and dialogue about fitness related topics.
  • Create, maintain and update all residents’ Personalized Fitness Plans.
  • Create appropriate music lists to help motivate and set the tone for each fitness class.
  • Conduct daily tests of the pool water and work with the ESD regarding chemical adjustments as necessary.
  • Provide residents with preventive measures and exercise classes to address Fall Prevention & senior strength training.
  • Attend Monthly All-Associate meetings.
  • Attend Quarterly Regional Fitness Specialist meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and require
