The Fitness Specialist provides fitness coaching, group exercise instruction, and personal training to create a positive, enjoyable, and memorable experience for guests and members. The role also supports daily Fitness Center operations by greeting and directing guests, answering questions about fitness operations and policies, managing reservations and communications, maintaining cleanliness and supplies, processing transactions, and supporting retail sales. The instructor teaches 1–4 group exercise classes, preparing equipment, music, and cues; providing warm-ups, exercises, stretching, and cool-downs; and educating participants on effective techniques and safety. The remaining schedule is filled by recruiting and coaching personal-training clients, assessing their strengths and weaknesses, and creating and implementing customized workout plans. Training guidance includes safe, reasonable exercises clients can perform at the gym or at home. The position requires frequent teamwork and cross-departmental communication, daily verbal and written communication, participation in shift meetings, completion of opening and closing checklists, and support for facility activities and projects. The work may take place indoors or outdoors and involves a range of physical activities, including standing, walking, bending, pushing and pulling, and lifting. This is a part-time position paying $30–$40 per instructional class.
