Fitness Instructor - Mission Plaza
About The Position
The Fitness Instructor provides on-site or virtual group exercise instruction to Health Initiatives program participants at our family and efficiency studio communities in North and South Austin. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community health and wellness and be motivated to deliver high-quality, culturally sensitive fitness instruction to vulnerable populations. This position is part-time hourly. Fitness Instructors typically work Monday-Thursday (mornings/afternoons, 7:30am-9am, 10am-3pm, or evenings, 6:30pm-8:30pm) with some variation.
Requirements
- Current certification or proof of exercise training course completion- Zumba
- Prior experience teaching group fitness classes
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Reliable means of transportation when necessary
- Prior experience working with and/or an awareness of the challenges faced by economically disadvantaged families
- Ability to communicate via email, and online scheduling platforms
- CPR/First Aid Certified
Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for fitness participants from various backgrounds and skill levels, ages 18+
- Provide high-quality, culturally sensitive fitness instruction including modifications to exercise routines when necessary
- Manage and maintain class sign-in sheets when in person
- Opening/closing duties at worksite(s)
- Assist with room set-up and break-down before and after class at properties
- Establish and maintain on-going communication with Health Program Manager and FC childcare providers (where applicable)
- Demonstrate and promote punctuality/clocking in and out
- Provide appropriate music for class
