The Southern Recreation and Leisure Services (SRLS) Division seeks enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and energetic Fitness Instructors to provide engaging fitness opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities. Instructors may teach a wide variety of disciplines, including traditional fitness classes and creative or emerging formats. Instructors plan and lead safe, engaging, age-appropriate classes; provide instruction, demonstrations, and modifications for different fitness levels; and create a welcoming, inclusive environment. They maintain professional relationships with participants and M-NCPPC staff, follow applicable policies and facility guidelines, and communicate with staff about class needs, scheduling, and participant concerns. This is a seasonal, part-time position that is not eligible for benefits. Instructors must successfully pass a complete background investigation and may be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Applicants must submit a one-course lesson plan consisting of four one-hour lessons structured around their preferred discipline, a resume highlighting teaching experience, and relevant certifications. Instruction may take place in classrooms, makerspaces, community centers, and outdoor learning environments. Instructors should be comfortable with hands-on instruction and flexible learning formats; work location may vary based on need. Classes are scheduled Monday through Saturday, between 7 AM and 1 PM. Instruction time is 1 to 1.5 hours per course, depending on enrollment. Instructors may teach multiple classes, with hours not exceeding 29.5 per week.
