About The Position

Parkshore is a lakefront retirement community located in Seattle's picturesque Madison Park neighborhood. We are seeking a temporary Fitness Coordinator to join our team. This role involves assessing and evaluating senior residents' needs for exercise and fitness, planning individual fitness programs, leading exercise sessions, and maintaining fitness equipment and records. The position also includes administrative functions, creating promotional materials, and collaborating with other professionals to ensure resident well-being. The ideal candidate will promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Transforming Age and Eastmont.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an exercise-related discipline preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience (3 or more years of fitness related experience)
  • National Fitness Certification required (ACSM preferred, but not required.
  • Be able to work generally 9am - 5pm but available to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Experience in prescribing exercise to special populations preferred.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proper uses of the exercise equipment.
  • Knowledge of techno gym equipment (or be trained).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Squarespace.
  • Pool certification (or willing to obtain within 6 months).
  • Must be able to physically assist in safe exercise and the safe operation of the equipment.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and evaluates senior residents’ needs for exercise and fitness.
  • Works with residents individually and in groups.
  • Plans individual fitness programs for participating residents.
  • Supervises or leads exercise programs that may include exercises in the pool.
  • Assists team members and residents with orientation to Fitness Center, procedures, and policies.
  • Produces promotional materials, newsletters, flyers, etc. as required.
  • Inspects, cleans and maintains equipment.
  • Maintains records of residents’ progress.
  • Assist with collecting data and reports for fitness activities as required.
  • Provides in-service trainings as required.
  • Works in collaboration with other professionals to provide appropriate assistance to residents.
  • Performs administrative functions for the department.
  • Assists with setting up AV system in theater.
  • Promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Transforming Age and Eastmont in all areas of responsibility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
