About The Position

The YMCA of Broome County is hiring a part-time Fitness Center Attendant to support members at our Johnson City fitness center. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys fitness, helping others and creating a welcoming gym environment. You will assist members with fitness equipment, provide workout guidance, help maintain a safe and clean facility, and encourage members as they work toward their health and fitness goals.

Requirements

Passion for fitness, wellness and helping people succeed.
Strong knowledge of basic fitness principles, exercise technique and fitness equipment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with members of different ages and fitness levels.
Dependable, friendly and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a gym, fitness center, wellness center or similar environment preferred.
Experience in fitness, exercise science, kinesiology, recreation, wellness or customer service can be a great fit for this role.

Responsibilities

Welcome members and create a friendly, positive fitness center experience.
Engage, motivate and encourage members as they work toward their health and fitness goals.
Provide basic workout guidance and help members use fitness equipment safely and correctly.
Demonstrate proper form and technique and provide fitness equipment instruction.
Monitor the fitness center and enforce YMCA safety policies and procedures.
Help maintain a clean, organized and safe workout environment.
Support daily fitness center operations and provide excellent customer service.
Opportunities may be available to teach group exercise classes on land or in the pool.
