About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor Adult Fitness, Wellness & Inclusion Services, the Fitness Attendant is responsible for the proper guideline adherence, monitoring and tidiness of the fitness areas. This role involves developing an awareness of safe and proper usage of fitness equipment, providing basic instruction, and enforcing rules and regulations for user safety and cleanliness. The attendant also conducts orientations, reports on equipment maintenance, and communicates participant feedback to the supervisor. Additionally, they are responsible for sanitizing, organizing, and inspecting fitness equipment, performing daily schedules, attending meetings and training, and providing general supervision in various fitness areas. The role may also involve leading and monitoring specific fitness sessions.

Requirements

  • Must possess an academic and practical knowledge of weight training
  • Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
  • Must obtain Standard First Aid CPR-C within three months of employment
  • Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Must obtain WHMIS training

  • Preferred candidate will have gone through a recognized fitness course

Responsibilities

  • Develops an awareness of safe and proper usage of the fitness areas.
  • Provides basic instruction on use of equipment and safety.
  • Enforces rules and regulations pertaining to user safety and cleanliness are adhered to by patrons.
  • Conducts weight room and multi-training room orientations and facility tours.
  • Reports on equipment maintenance, inventory and keeps appropriate records of statistics.
  • Communicates participant requests, suggestions, and complaints to Supervisor.
  • Sanitizes, organizes and inspects fitness equipment.
  • Performs daily schedule as outlined.
  • Attends general staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Patrols multi-training areas, track, weight room, courts and the fitness program room and provides general supervision.
  • Leads and monitors hockey dryland sessions and school group fitness activities.
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
