About The Position

This position reports to the Assistant Director of Recreation (#10403) and serves as a full-time professional member of USF St. Petersburg's Recreation staff. The primary purpose of this position is to oversee and provide leadership for the Fitness Center and its related programs, and to assist the Assistant Director with membership services initiatives. The Fitness Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, supervision, and development of the Fitness Center student staff, Group Fitness Instructors, and Personal Trainers. This position creates, develops, and enforces policies and procedures for the Fitness Center, coordinates facility reservations, oversees operations, develops and upholds risk management policies, manages inventory, and markets programs to engage student participation. The Fitness Coordinator also assists the Assistant Director with membership services initiatives, including member engagement, retention efforts, and related administrative support. This position works closely with other Recreation program coordinators, Student Government, General Counsel, USF St. Petersburg Police Department, the Wellness Center, and other University departments. The Fitness Coordinator is responsible for an annual operating budget of over $100,000 for the Fitness Center and its programs. This position requires some night and weekend, supervisory hours, and must remain accessible by cell phone and/or email. This position is considered essential personnel for emergency management purposes and may be required to assist with emergency operations.
