This position works on-site at the Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus. Recreation Services operates within the Division of Student Affairs and serves a vibrant campus community through a broad portfolio of programs including fitness, personal training, intramural sports, sport clubs, outdoor recreation, aquatics, and wellness initiatives. Recreation programs are centered in the Ralph S. O’Connor Center for Recreation and Well-Being, a recently renovated and expanded facility that serves as a premier campus destination for health, wellness, recreation, and community building.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required or 4 or more years of work experience
At least 2 years of progressive experience
Demonstrated experience within member management software
Demonstrated experience with customer service
Leadership and supervisory abilities
Ability to work as part of, and lead, a team that collaborates effectively with colleagues
Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm
Analytical skills to: identify problems, assess alternatives, and render consistent, logical decisions
Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyle choices
Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/FA certification (or willing to obtain)

Responsibilities

Serves as the liaison between the recreation center and prospective and current members.
Leadership and management of student staff, membership sales, program registration processes, customer service and equipment issue operation, and student training and development.
Process and audit member services and program registration paperwork and billing; Reconcile monthly automatic payments
Process, review, and audit parking applications
Drive membership revenue through proactive membership sales, strategic upselling, and targeted promotions, actively engaging prospective and current members to increase conversions, upgrades, and renewals
Lead and manage a membership retention program, including membership database management, appreciation initiatives, renewals and cancellations, corporate account management and locker renewals
Oversees the ordering, inventory, and overall management of all staff uniforms, ensuring accurate sizing, timely fulfillment, proper branding, and adequate stock levels
Responsible for the preparation, forecasting and monitoring of income and expense budgets as it relates to areas of responsibility
Prepares and delivers required and requested reports and data to the client and CENTERS central office
Assist with development and enforcement of policies and procedures
Oversee and manage member rewards program and/or participation tracking
Source, purchase, and inventory pro shop items for resale
Serve on various committees representing department for both the client and CENTERS
Hire, train, schedule and evaluate part-time staff direct reports and assist with indirect reports
Responsible for approving timecards and preparing necessary documents/reports in preparation for payroll
Create, encourage, and support professional development opportunities for staff including professional association involvement, training programs, and individual mentoring
Assist with annual member survey development and distribution
Represent department at campus orientations, information fairs, and other campus events
Assist with student employment recruitment information and orientation sessions
Support office operations by managing office supplies, equipment, and assisting with administrative functions
