Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish is recruiting for a Fishery Biologist 3 located in Anchorage, Alaska! As the Hatchery Support Fishery Biologist, you will play a key role in supporting Alaska's statewide sport fish enhancement program by combining applied research, fish culture, and biological data management. The Division of Sport Fish is committed to protecting, maintaining, and improving Alaska's fisheries resources for current and future generations. Requirements

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in biology, a branch of biology, limnology, biometrics, oceanography, forestry, fisheries science, or natural resource management; AND One year of full performance professional experience as a biologist or fish culturist.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• First Aid/CPR Certification.
• Interpersonally Effective: Creates and sustains positive working relationships.
• Effective Communicator: Demonstrates open, honest, and respectful written and verbal communication.
• Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to learn and apply new technical skills and techniques in support of research and production.
• Experience planning, conducting, and reporting the results of scientific studies related to fish production, life history and/or management.

Responsibilities

• Lead or independently conduct broodstock management, fish marking, triploid induction and certification, and production monitoring for salmon and resident species.
• Collect, analyze, and report biological and production data to ensure hatchery operations meet regulatory, permitting, and release certification requirements.
• Design and implement research projects that improve hatchery production, fish health, enhancement strategies, and stocked waters management.
• Collaborate with hatchery staff, fisheries managers, researchers, and partner agencies to advance science-based fish culture and enhancement practices.
• Contribute directly to fisheries management decisions that support sustainable recreational fishing opportunities throughout Alaska.
