Seasonal Fisheries Technician

Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians•Arlington, WA
•$28 - $29•Onsite

About The Position

The Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians is hiring a seasonal Fisheries Technician to perform data collection and habitat enhancement duties. From January through July 2027, most duties will support a continuing juvenile salmon outmigration study on the Stillaguamish River. Working under the lead Fisheries Biologist, the technician will operate a screw-type smolt trap on the mainstem Stillaguamish River near Silvana, Washington. The work involves weekends (Friday through Tuesday), randomized day and night shifts, and additional shifts as needed to calibrate the trap. The trap is exposed to the elements, so work in inclement weather is required; shifts may be canceled depending on river flows. Primary duties include deploying and operating the smolt trap; identifying, measuring, and enumerating juvenile salmonids; trap maintenance; collecting and entering data; and reconciling electronic data. The technician will also assist with seining for broodstock for the Tribe’s Fall Chinook captive brood program, seining for Chinook juveniles, transporting juveniles to the Tribe’s hatchery, and following written procedures and biosecurity protocols. The position is expected to start in mid-January 2027 and end in July 2027.
