Work within the Spokane Tribal Fisheries Department assisting Lake Roosevelt Sturgeon Recovery Project biologists with White Sturgeon recovery efforts. Technicians will assist biologists with extensive field work (typically 10 hrs./day, 4 days/week, in inclement weather conditions), data collection (biometric data, abundance data, etc.), maintenance of boats and survey gear (telemetry equipment, setlines, etc.), and perform data entry. During larval collection efforts (June-July) techs will be required to work holidays, nights, and weekends. Techs will be extensively trained in various field and laboratory safety protocols and will be provided personal protective equipment including footwear, life jackets, and rain gear. Techs will be expected to maintain a weekly log of their activities and accomplishments. Techs will learn how fisheries data they collect informs management actions which preserve and enhance sturgeon within Lake Roosevelt. If needed, techs may also help on other field projects including Fall Walleye Index Netting, Northern Pike suppression, and other fisheries surveys. Techs will be responsible for other duties as assigned.
