Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission is recruiting candidates to fill three temporary Fisheries Technician 1 positions in partnership with the California Department of Water Resources. The incumbents will work full-time, up to 6 months, under the direction of Feather River Section staff based in Oroville, CA. Under the supervision of a Program Manager, DWR Senior Environmental Scientists and other Environmental Scientists, incumbents will be responsible for daily laboratory activities and data collection as part of a pathogen research study. Successful candidates will participate in an independent and/or team environment to process benthic river samples, identify target invertebrates, and accurately collect both quantitative and qualitative data using microscopy. Incumbents will be able to effectively identify the target annelid 'Manayunkia occidentalis', efficiently use dissecting microscopes, and closely follow complex laboratory protocols. Candidates will demonstrate safety consciousness and adhere to all safety and data collection protocols. Candidates must be willing to work in an office/laboratory setting and be willing to work weekends, nights, and overtime as needed. Candidates' willingness to remain flexible to help with other agency projects on an as needed basis is also a must.
